On February 20th & 21st Centennial College honoured its award winners for the 2011 – 2012 academic year. Three graduates from Centennial’s Corporate Communications & Public Relations program received awards at a gala dinner in the college’s new Athletic & Wellness Centre, hosted by CBC’s Suhana Meharchand.
An idea that would have teams racing across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton regions on public transit is the winner of Centennial College’s 10.10.10 Competition. “The Amazing Transit Race” would raise awareness of the difficulties for commuters on low income, who have disabilities, or who speak a language other than English.
What’s the number one cancer in boys and young men? You may be surprised to learn its testicular cancer. A group of students from Centennial College’s Corporate Communications & Public Relations program recently held a special event titled Balls2UCancer to raise funds and awareness about this important cause.
In Canada four out of 10 adult Canadians age 16 to 65 – representing nine million Canadians – struggle with low literacy. Fifteen percent of these people have not achieved the minimum literacy skills required for coping well with the complex tasks demanded in today’s workplace.

It’s hard to believe that another group of students – our biggest ever graduating class – has started their field placements already. It just seems like yesterday that we were in the CCC courtyard at the welcome corn roast getting to know each other.
