Centennial student Hannah Sunderani was named CPRS Toronto PR Student of the Year. The award is given each year to a graduating student from a GTA-area public relations program. It is the second time in three years a Centennial student has won this coveted award.

The Gold and Silver ACE Awards were given for special events organized by Corporate Communications & Public Relations students in their Event Management courses, led by instructors Vivienne McCuaig and Holly Fraser.

Gold went to “Talk is Cheap 5.0”, Centennial’s annual “unconference” on social media and public relations.  Congratulations to students Kamilla Berdin, Brenna Birkin, Nadine Bukhman, Chhavi Disawar, Chavonne Fletcher, Nila Halycia, Peter MacDonald, Meaghan Savage and Bridget Sirtonski.

The Silver ACE Awards went to “It’s Your Moment” and “BraveArt”.  It’s Your Moment raised close to $5,000 for Look Good Feel Better, a charity that supports women battling cancer.  Congratulations to students Brittany Cornish, Jessica Gramigna, Cheryl Heisler, Kassandra O’Brien and Hannah Sunderani.  Brave Art was a unique arts-focused event that raised funds for Art Starts, a not-for-profit organization that partners with residents in lower-income communities in Toronto to engage them in creative opportunities through partnerships with professional artists.  Congratulations to students Kimberly Banjac, Cassandra Chambers, Michaela Gold, Barbara Loureiro, Sarah MacKinnon and Andrea Mancini.

Hannah Sunderani was recognized as CPRS Toronto Student of the Year for her leadership inside and outside the classroom.  Hannah was active within the CC&PR program and also on the Student Steering Committee for CPRS.  She was part of the ACE Award-winning team for It’s Your Moment, and is currently on field placement at the Hospital for Sick Children.  Hannah also won the Dean’s Award for Entrepreneurship & Innovation for the Corporate Communications & Public Relations program at the annual ceremony at the School of Communications, Media and Design on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
