Centennial PR students raise $19,700 for local charities

We’re proud to announce that this past fall Centennial Corporate Communications & Public Relations students from our East York and Pickering campuses raised more than $19,700 for local charities through 12 unique special events staged as part of our Event Management course for Fall 2012.

Event Management is one of the most challenging – and rewarding – courses in Centennial’s Corporate Communications & Public Relations program.  Each September and January, students who’ve only known each other for a few weeks are formed into groups and asked to plan a special event from scratch.   What follows is two months of hard work and real world learning that result in outstanding special events that showcase our students’ expertise, imagination, professionalism and compassion.

Bravo to Centennial CC&PR students and Event Management instructors Holly Fraser, Vivienne McCuaig and Alanna Banks on a stellar, record-breaking achievement.

It always seems so weird to me to make a big deal with good-bye’s at the end of semester. I feel in many ways this is just the beginning, even thought it’s the end of your time here with us, your faculty over the past eight months. Someone once told me, in the early days of parenting, that the days are long but the weeks are fast. That’s how it feels with each academic year.

    You forgot about the Starlight Children’s Foundation. We are a group from Pickering CCPR and we raised over $1000 for this charity. It would be great to see it recognized!
