Student Event: A Bid for a Bike
Do you remember the feeling when you received your first bike as a child? Most of us do: the excitement, the curiousness and the many thoughts of adventure. Unfortunately, not every child gets to feel this way.
This is why Centennial College Corporate Communications and Public Relations students are hosting a live auction event called A Bid for a Bike. The event will support My First Wheels, a grassroots charity that provides lightly used bicycles to children from financially disadvantaged communities in Toronto.
The auction will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Duke of York, located at 39 Prince Arthur Avenue, just around the corner from St. George subway station.
Guests can enjoy food, drinks, purchase raffle tickets, and bid on exciting gifts. Some of these gifts include spa packages (Hand and Stone Massages), restaurant gift certificates (Hard Rock Café), car detailing packages (G6 Auto Detailing) to name a few, each worth more than $100.
If you want to be swept up in the excitement of a real live auction with a professional auctioneer, this is the event for you.
The raffle, arguably the most exciting part of the night, includes the prize of a new bicycle worth $350, generously donated by CyclePath. Raffle tickets can be purchased the night of the event for $2 each or three for $5.
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased for $5 by contacting Robyn Kurta at (647) 262-2162 or RobynKurta (at) gmail.com. Tickets can also be purchased on November 28 at the door for $10.
All proceeds of the event will go towards My First Wheels.
We hope to see you there!
