Speaking Out Against Violence Against Women

CCC White Ribbon Campaign coverage  in the CourierStudents, staff and faculty at the Centre for Creative Communications joined their colleagues from all four Centennial campuses in this year’s White Ribbon Campaign from December 1 – 3, 2010.

Students from the Corporate Communications & Public Relations program led the way, distributing white ribbons and encouraging everyone at the college to sign a banner stating their pledge never to commit violence against women.

The White Ribbon Campaign, founded in 1991 in response to the murder of 14 women at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal in December 1989, is focused on raising awareness among men and boys about the issues surrounding violence against women.

Earlier in the term, WRC Director of Development Nick Rodrigue visit the CCC and spoke to CC&PR students about the issues as part of an assignment that involved students creating new campaign ideas and a Media Plan for the WRC.
